My Dad's Job

My Dad’s Job

By Londis  Carpenter

 My dad’s a poop detective;

Forensics is his game.

When he sees poop, he always knows

What animal to blame.

He knows how long it lingered and

How long it will reside.

He can tell by its aroma

And stuff he finds inside.

He recognizes every kind

Of poop found in the zoo.

He went to school to study poop;

I just learned two plus two.

I’ve learned an awful lot from dad,

Stuff I may never need.

About the things you find in turds

Like berries, nuts and seeds.

Poop has a lot of textures too;

There’s sticky and there’s loose.

And if it looks like chewing gum

It may be from a goose.

And poop has many colors, some

That I already knew.

There’s red

And green

And yellow-brown;

There’s multicolored too.

And poo is found most everywhere;

You don’t have to look far.

The dogs will go poop in you’re yard

And birds poop on your car.

When I grow up I don’t believe

I’ll choose my dad’s career.

I’d rather study other stuff

Than what comes from the rear.
